Hmmm, lots of Bakersfield questions around here. Seems like some people are a bit sensitive about it. Does Bakersfield really suck THAT HARD? Frankly, I don't get there much. From what little I've seen of the town, I'd rather not stay. I'm sure there are nice areas somewhere, but I've never seen any. Regardless, here are some links that I researched. You be the judge: http://twitter.com/bakosucks http://www.bestplaces.net/backfence/viewcomment.aspx?id=80490ACB-4762-433A-AFFA-AAD08055736D&city=Bakersfield_CA&p=50603526 "Bakersfield Sucks. I have lived here 10 years. Read other posts and reconsider. we are moving as soon as house sells. No worries about Tarantulas and scorpions, few and far between although we went hiking and I saw a rattle snake yesterday. Reconsider this area, most of california is great but the San Joaquin Valley is farm and oil land, really nothing to do at all for families. Schools stink, the air smells like cow dung. If you are single, no night clubs ( I do not go to them but I have heard this before). Lots and lots of "migrant" workers taking up your streets, stores and all ER rooms too. Smog gets trapped between the Tehachapi mountains, look at the smog info, I have asthma now at 34 just found out yesterday. i actually wheeze like a smoker does! Crazy but true. Also lots of gangs coming from LA. I have nothing to gain from posting this I live here and I want to give you a heads up. Lastly, the jobs are non existant and you better speak spanish to live here because most jobs require it.On the other hand, the town of Tehachapi is beautiful, clear skies fresh air. Not much work though" http://www.city-data.com/forum/california/181559-bakersfield.html#ixzz0yxmi8BEt http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Bakersfield I think the urbandictionary was my fav.
